That’s great! I’m glad you listen to that podcast! It’s so interesting and the guys who put it on are awesome! Very glad you liked episode 12 too
Yeah, I’m still a bit sad the project had to end. It’s for the better though. I’ve learned so much from The Morae River and I’m very excited to put what I know now into a new project!
I hope you follow along! I’ll post links on this website once I start the other project and have it up online and such.

I’ve subscribed to ‘Science…sort of’ audio broadcasts and I’m not very far along. Just today I listened to Episode 12 and heard about you and Morae River Project. That one was broadcast on 11/23/2009, and I just listened to it today. I shot over to your site and was excited and saddened; excited to see the site and realize all the cool stuff I can see, and then saddened to see your April 1st (but no fooling) post.

I will take my time getting into your Morae River world and art and make it last as long as possible, and I will look forward to whatever else you may have planned.

Great concept.
But i’d like to know, are you sure about it’s height in meters? Because text says 6,7 meters high but picture with human looks more like if Gigatus is around 16,7 meters high.

Sorry for the delay. I use wordpress to run this blog. I style it with a CSS style sheet that I modify in Dreamweaver. I’m really not an expert in this sort of thing – most of everything I’ve done is just what I’ve figured out by messing around with the CSS. Anyway, I hope that helps

Balandic Cula: sceleta, galatheria (from Greek “gala” meaning milk), predata, culadiae, culas, C. balandios

Banded Terrinsc: sceleta, galatheria, riparia (coastal), longicauda (long tailed), barbatae, natatomontis, N. barbatus

Black Mardik: sceleta, galatheria, predata, pernixae, mardik (the same for Red-Tailed Mardik), M. mardik

Gigatus: flexapoda, euinsecta, memnarchidae, gigateae, silvanus, S. sileo

Greater Fugamus: sceleta, galatheria, rosumia, currerae, fugamus, F. grandis

Blue-Throated Hulompolus: sceleta, ovasauria, plicaterga (fold-skinned), barduspedae, hulompolus, H. minor

Mountain Uru: (the size image is lost, so I post only basic classification) sceleta, galatheria…

That thing is large enough to be a crocodile analogue, but it is even scarier as an active hunter instead of an ambusher.

One problem: Perciformes (the perch order) belongs to Actinopterygii. If this animal is sarcopterygian (which may not be possible with six limbs) it cannot be in Perciformes.

Pretty weird and scarry creature here.

Memnarchidae, while a funny name idea, would have to be the family name. But Carnea could easily be the order name.

Aside from being smaller, I think the revised gigatus should have more graviportal legs. The leg segments can be shorter and thicker, and the leg itself strait or nearly so, instead of bent. This animal needs strong legs to hold up its weight, but it is not using those legs to run or jump or climb so they need not be nimble or slender.

There is an error with this animal though: if the genus name is Terrinscae, then shouldn’t the species name must be Terrinscae natatomontis or Terrinscae barbatus?

Hello, I stopped by Sagebrush last night and saw this art, and I was totally blown away by how amazing and intricate it is! I read all the captions, and I was impressed by just how much thought and time has clearly gone into this project. Needless to say, I googled it when I got home, and found this site. I’m an undergrad in Evolutionary Biology, and this sort of art is definitely my favorite kind. I think that the intersect between art and science is one of the most overlooked aspects of both of these fields, and your art definitely brings that to life in splendid fashion. Good work, hopefully I’ll see more of it in the future!
